This project involves the design and fabrication of a topbox for a Honda NBC110. Autodesk Inventor was used for its sheetmetal design space, which allowed for the generation of a parametric flat-pattern template.
The box was assembled from 2mm powdercoated aluminium sheet, which had to be scored using a cutting disk to allow it to be easily folded without the use of a press-brake.
The sheet was then drilled and riveted together using aluminium rivets, and given several coats of spray paint. The box is mounted above a vinyl sheet to damp vibrations, and is bolted to the rear-rack, providing a lockable and weatherproof storage space.
Below is a dimensioned flat pattern drawing of the box and lid.
